Excel CEILING and FLOOR Functions

The Excel CEILING and FLOOR functions are very similar and are usualy used to round up or  down numbers based on a multiple of significance.

Syntax: 







CEILING( number, significance )
FLOOR( number, significance )

Parameter list: 







number - The number that you wish to round up (ceiling) or down (Floor).
significance  - The multiple of significance to use when rounding

Remarks:

• CEILING always rounds up away from zero.
• FLOOR always rounds down towards to zero.
• If the significance argument does not have the same arithmetic sign as the number, both CEILING amd FLOOR functions will return the #NUM! error.
